The Hate-America-First-Crowd shows their hypocrisy again.

The Hate-America-First crowd is rejoicing with the Supreme Court decision earlier this week that give enemy combatants, captured overseas, the same rights and privileges of American citizens to challenge their imprisonment and status in Military court, not a tribunal. So, the Court also required that they be grant the same right and privileges as prisoner of war, even thought al Queda is not a signatory of the Geneva Convention. These combatants can now use our system to get writs of habeas corpus, discovery, etc. And the anti-war left is applauding this decision.

These leftist are the same ones who claim we can impose the American System on democracy, law, and courts on "those Arab savages." The same savages who recorded Nick Berg's beheading and posted it on the internet. These leftist applaud the use of foreign law to justify the Supreme Courts decision.

Would these same leftist applaud a Supreme Court decision that outlawed homosexuality, women's right, and religious freedom on the basis of Sharia law? Women would be banned from working, driving, receiving an education. Homosexuals would be jailed, stoned, and beheaded. Sharia law would eliminate the 1st amendment. Would the leftist be happy about that?

Newspaper subscriptions are down.... again.... DUH!!

There is more news that newspaper subscriptions have dropped again. I have read about several people who have cancelled the NY Times/LA Times subscription in response to the SWIFT terrorist financial data mining program disclosure. One of my favorite LA Times bias slammer, Patterico Pontification's has announce he has cancelled his LA Times subscription in response to the SWIFT disclosure. I have cancelled to paper myself several times in response to biased coverage. I now only get the paper on Sunday's for the comics and ads.

Note to newspaper editors, the front page of the paper is for news, not opinion. Editorials go in the second section.

I am waiting for the day when a reasonable, moderate left/right editor becomes in charge of a major newspaper and returns it to only partially biased news coverage. They seem to have forgotten, the news to supposed to tell who, what, when, where, why, and how. Not the president or the republicans are evil for trying to prevent terrorist from attacking America. The westside of Santa Monica and the upper east side of Manhattan are not representative of the rest of the United States.

When and if they ever figure this out, will lead to a rise in newspaper subscriptions, revenue, and (ooohhhh nnnnoooo) profit. I got an idea, hire away the editor of the Washington Times and put him in NY or LA and see what happens.

MSM, now = Drive By Media

The new media and blogosphere have a generic reference to the old school distributors of the news, the three Major TV networks, CNN, the NY Times, Washington Post, LA Times, etc. The have generically called the MSM (Main Stream media). It is somewhat of a derogatory reference because, you can compare the coverage on any political, economic, social, or worldwide event and the phrase, tone, talking points, and perspective would be very similar. Bush lied, is stupid, and corrupt. Republicans are sexist, racist, bigot, and homophobes. The military is evil, can do not right, murders innocent civilians, etc.

Conservatives finally had a voice when Rush Limbaugh was widely syndicated in 1987 or so. I know the National Review has been around since the '60. But it's distribution was so small. It was essentially a niche publication. The internet became widely available. Fox News started. Conservative publication became more widely distributed. Conservative talk radio took over the talk airwaves. And then the blogs started to shape opinion. In the old days, the MSM would cover someone, smear and destroy them, and move on to the next victim with hardly a bump on the road.
Now, people can strike back. Radio talk shows, talk debate shows, and other media outlets will allow the victim to speak out, unfiltered, unedited, and directly to the viewer. No edited 10 second soundbite. It's not parity, but it is a chance to strike back.

The MSM response, blatant slanted, uneven, biased coverage. They used to just ignore the other point of view. Now they have to more than just attack, they must dis-credit it. Destroy it, run over it. The MO is attack, smear, and run. Just like a gang drive-by shooting. Each of the old media organizations are like ghetto street gangs. They are all fighting over the same shrinking resources. They have to get more and more dramatic, vicious, sensational, and vindictive. Like a street gang. And their weapon, a drive by. A quick deadly, unfocused, attack. If there is collateral damage, oh well. By at the same time demanding the heads of the military, who kill some innocent civilians in the heat of battle. The demand accountability of everyone, but themselves. Think of CBS memogate coverage and the rigged exploding truck expose by NBC.

Hypocrisy at the NY Times? Not Possible, right????

On September 24, 2001, the NY Times ran an article and editorial demanding the Bush Administration do more to track terrorist financing domestically and abroad. The Bush instituted the SWIFT program to data mine international financial data to track and arrest terrorist. The same NY Times demanding the tracking of international terrorist finance exposed the SWIFT program last Friday. Hotair.com had a great editorial video about terrorist, NY City and the the NY Times. (hat tip to Michelle Malkin) As I said before, you can't fight someone who buy ink by the barrel. Start an investigation of the leaks, compel reporters to reveal the source of the illegal leak and prosecute the leakers. If the reporter refuse to testify, jail them for contempt. This will dry up the source and respect the first amendment. It might force the reporters to do more independent investigating, not agenda leak blabbing.

Elections matter and why it only takes 5

Today's Supreme court decision on military tribunals for terrorist detainees has reinforces my opinion that elections matter. Too many decisions are decided by 5 lawyers. So many people talk about the 9 supreme court justices decide what is the law of the land. The reality is that it only takes 5. It was something that the late Chief Justice Rehnquist used to remind his clerks all the time. "We only need 5." One more retirement is all I ask. 60 votes in the Senate would be nice, but that would but too much power in the hands of the likes Spector, Snowe, Collins, and Chaffee. So getting a replacement for any of the three liberal justices or two moderate justices is paramount. I think either John Paul Stephens or Ruth Bader Ginsburg will be the next to retire.

Snarlin' Arlen is at it again

Penn. Senator "Snarlin'" Arlen Specter finally admits what we've known all along. That the US Senate is out of touch with the American Public. Duh! Remember this is the man who became famous working to the Warren Commission investigating the assassination of JFK. He came up the the now famous and discredited ' single bullet theory.' You know the one which the high velocity bullet that was angled down, hit JFK in the right shoulder turns left and up, goes through JFK throat, turns right and down, hits Govenor Connelly in the upper right arm and wrist, turns left and down and ends up in his left thigh. I guess he was senile since the '70.

Why isn't there speedy trail for the Duke 3?

I have been racking my brain for the reasoning of Durham DA Mike Nifong's decision to delay trial on the Duke "Rape" case until next spring. He has and will put a hold for 1 1/2 years the lives of the accused. I am pretty sure Reade Seligmann and Collin Finnerty have been suspended by the school at least until the end of the trial. David Evans had a job offer withdrawn due to the indictment and no one is going to hire him until after of the trial. Nifong claims the investigation is done, they are going through all the pre-trial motions now..... So why delay for so long. Then it hit me. The election is not until November. The election in May was the primary. Everyone has assumed that the winner of the primary would win the race, since there is not Republican opponent. There have been some rumbling about someone trying to get a write in vote or a last minute signature drive run against Nifong. But the election results won't be final until November. It will be difficult to start such a trial after November with Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Break. If Nifong were to start in January, it would seem to obvious. So the spring of '07 make sense. Or am I reading to much into it??

Leaking Times (LA and New York)

Much has been say and opined about prosecuting the NY Times and the LA Times about their disclosures about the NSA wiretapping and the International Money Transfer spying to get info about terrorist. As much cheering and hoping to convicting the editors and writes of these tow papers may make conservatives feel better. It go back to and old saying, " Never get into a fight with someone who buy ink by the barrel."

The best way to stop the leaks is to go after the anonymous sources these papers have been using. Form a Federal Grand Jury, and compel the reporters to give up these sources. Patrick Fitzgerald has already set the bar for jailing un-responsive reporters. These same papers demanding an investigation into "Plamegate", so lets investigate their sources. I think it would be great to see these reporters serving time for failing to reveal their sources. Let's see how long their "principle" stand up wearing orange jumpsuits. As soon as they give up their sources, then prosecute the "leakers." All of these people serving the government in sensitive areas must sign a confidentiality agreement. The leaking violates this agreement. Slamdunk!!! I think the CIA and the State Department needs to be purged of people who hate the President so much, they would put the country in jeopardy to achieve an objective that they could not achieve in the ballot box. When you are a career civil servant on these departments, your job is to serve the President, regardless of party.

UC Santa Cruz Chancellor commits suicide.

The recently hired Chancellor of UC Santa Cruz ( Uncle Charlie's Summer Camp or UCk-SuCk) committed suicide on Friday by plunging 43 stories. She jump from the building her "Partner" of 10 years lived. Ms. Denton rose to infamy for blasted recently retired Harvard President Larry Summers. She was also under the microscope for the package deal she and her "partner" received for leaving the University of Washington and employment with the UC System. $600,000 in taxpayer funded home improvements to the house they were to reside in on the UCSC campus (including a $30,000 dog run) as well as a $192,00-a-year position created for the "Partner" at the UC Schools HQ in Oakland.

I wish I had connections like that.....

What WMD's? No article in the LA Times, I guess they don't exist.

As of 12:00pm PDT, the LA times website does not have an article about the 500 or so chemical and nerve gas shells found in Iraq, but the have an article about the 7 Marines and 1 Navy Corpsman who were charged with murdering an Iraqi civilian. Media bias?!?!?!?!?!?! What media bias?

Duke "Rape" accuser Identified

Through the work of a liberal talk show host, bloggers, and a defense attorney, the name of the Duke "Rape" accuser has been released. She is Crystal Gail Mangum. She even has a wikipedia bio page. I think the media should, when the case is dismissed, show her mugshot, name and photos just as boldly as they have the accused Duke players. Does anyone remember the name of Patricia Bowman. The "blue dot" rape accuser of William (Get out of jail)Kennedy Smith. It seems to me, that after he was acquitted, the media did not show her photo and release her name. Last time I checked, if you are acquitted in the criminal trial, the "rape" didn't happen, therefore you are not a rape victim. So why was she not blasted as a false accuser?

Stuck in AOHell and other evil call center stories

I just heard the tape of the guy trying to cancel is AOHell account. I fell over laughing. The guy should have demanded to speak with a manager immediately to bypass the BS. It's like talking to the cable TV company.

A few years back I added cable internet service to get a high speed connection. I set up an appointment for the installation between 4-7pm. I had to leave work early to make it home by 4pm. At 6:30pm, still no cable guy. I call the service center at 6:45pm to ask about my appointment status. I told about my 4-7pm appointment and he said, "It's not 7pm yet." So, I got his name and extension. At 7:01, I called and said, "it's past 7, where is your guy, and who is going to reimburse me for the 3 hours I wasted. I bill at $175 hr, so you owe me $525." After some rambling BS, I demand to speak with a supervisor. He would not connect me, so I hung up and called back. As so as the new call center person answered, I demanded to know there name and extension then asked to be connected to a supervisor. The call center person asked what is the call regarding and I told him bad customer service at the call center and if he did not immediately connect me to a supervisor, I was going to add him to my list. It was 7:15pm. Still no cable guy. I got hold of the supervisor and told her what happened. It's 7:25pm and still no cable guy. She then told me that they have a policy on not starting another installation after 7:00pm. So I asked when should I expect the check of $525 for my 3 wasted hours. The appoint was set for a 3 hour window and no one showed up, so I want to be reimbursed for my time. There was a long pause. "Let me make a call." 5 minutes later, 7:35pm, I was informed that the installer would be arriving in 10 minutes, that the installation would be free, and a month of service would be credited to my bill. Not $525, but it was a start.

One more thing, I called back a few day later to talk to her supervisor to find out the disposition of the original call center service agent. "He is no longer with the company." Just like the AOHell guy.

SURE!!!!

The Heat win the NBA Championship!!!

Attn: Mitch Kupchek; you traded away the wrong player. Kobe for Duane Wade straight up seems like a great deal now huh?? What was that trade? Shaq for Brian Grant (Gone), Caron Butler (Gone), Lamar Odom (still waiting to appear), and a Sasha Vujacic (who) ...... The day that trade went down, I predicted that Shaq will win a title with the Heat before Kobe wins one with the Lakers. I will make another bold prediction. Shaq will win at least one more title and Kobe will never win another one.

Where is the outrage from the Human Rights Groups?

The two missing soldiers were found yesterday, badly tortured and left out like a piece of garbage. To add insult to injury, the area around their bodies were booby trapped to maim or kill more soldiers. "The bodies of Menchaca, 23, and Tucker, 25, were so badly disfigured that the cause of death could not be determined and they had to be sent home for DNA tests for positive identification." Now compare the condition of these two brave men against the "torture" in Club Gitmo. Women's panties place on the heads of these enemy combatants, being interrogated by a woman, sleep deprivation, being forced to listen to Celine Dion and Madonna (that might drive me insane) vs. DEAD and disfigured. Where is the ACLU? Amnesty International? The International Red Cross? A.N.S.W.E.R? All the liberals in the US Senate? The professors from the Ivy League?.......... All I hear are crickets....... The silence is deafening.

Islamic Crusade?

I was just thinking. Islam is essentially unchanged in the 4th century. Very male oriented, women are essentially property, eye for an eye, etc. Their radical leadership wants to convert the world and make all the countries Sharia law based Islamic republics. They want to destroy the country of Israel. Osama Bin Laden stated one of his reasons for attacking the Twin Towers was the US support of Israel. He wants the US Military off Saudi Soil, the country with two of Islam's holiest sites.

Are they going through their version of the crusades?

The Crusaders swept across the European continent to the Middle East to take Jerusalem from the muslims. They told the conquered people on the way convert to Christianity or die. Seems very similar to me.

Bonfires of the Vanities Redux in Durham

I was watching cable TV last night and I happened to catch the start of Bonfires of the Vanities. Wikipedia describes the plot of the story from the point of view from a "British expatriate journalist Peter Fallow. Fallow as asked to cover the investigation of a young black man who had been the victim of a hit and run by a white driver (Sherman McCoy's mistress, who was driving Sherman's car with Sherman in the passenger seat). When Sherman is identified as the owner of the car from the hit and run attack, Fallow is ordered to prepare a smear campaign against Sherman McCoy, who becomes the most hated man in New York City as a result. However, a chance encounter with McCoy causes Fallow to have a change of heart and secretly attempts to help clear McCoy's name."

Let's see, a rich white guy is accused of killing a poor black youth in a hit and run car accident. The District Attorney is up for re-election and wants to use the conviction of McCoy to sway the black residents of New York City to re-elect him. There is a local religious and political leader who is using the tragedy to advance his own agenda. The media is going crazy to convict the white guy.

In Durham, 3 "rich", white, college athletes are accused of raping a poor, working class, black, single mother. The new recently appointed DA is up for his first re-election. The DA holds 50+ interviews and brag about the overwhelming evidence, claiming the DNA will absolutely identifying the perpetrators of the rape. The local black community is demanding arrests. The University leadership holds townhall meeting to re-assure the local community leaders, then sells out the team by first forfeiting two games, then cancels the season. The coach, of 16 years, "resigns"! All before any arrest or indictments. A grand jury hearing is held, the defense is not allowed to make any presentations. The indictments are sealed. The indicted players are NOT allowed to turn themselves in, but are arrested in the early morning, just in time for wall to wall coverage on the Network morning shows......

Sound familiar?
