Joe Wilson has been making the round on the Talk Show circuit for the last few years quoting the Democratic Party Mantra, " Bush Lied Us into War." Wilson also claimed his "investigative" trip to Niger disproves the "16 words" for the 2002 State of the Union Speech. Wilson has also claimed his "covert" CIA agent wife was "outed" in retaliation for his Wall Street Journal article.
Well, let us check Joe Wilson credibility.
Claim-- His trip to Niger was done at the request of the VP.
Fact--- He was sent to Niger by the CIA as a bone for his Consulting Business and he was recommended by his Wife
Claim-- His investigative trip, with consisted of tea time with government officials proves that Saddam was not trying to acquire
yellowcake uranium.
Fact--- The Senate intelligence committee stated in their report, that Joe Wilson's info further substantiates the Worldwide intelligence communities option that Saddam was trying to acquire
yellowcake. The British Government still stand by the assessment that Saddam was trying to get
yellowcake. And their internal inquiry, the Butler report also confirm the
intelligence was accurate and not "sexed up".
Claim-- That documents discovered by the Italian intelligence and reviewed by Wilson, that appear to verify Iraq attempts to acquired
yellowcake were forgeries.
Truth--- The documents were discovered after the Niger trip and Joe Wilson never saw them.
Wilson later claims he
mis-spoke.
Claim-- The outing of Valerie
Plame ended her career, ended her income, exposed her identity, and threatened the safety of their family.
Truth--- No one knew what
Plame looked like until she posed for Vanity Fair (twice), Time Magazine, and the Washington Post. Wilson and
Plame for
multi-million dollar advances for a book he wrote and a book she is writing. If they are so worried about exposure, why show up at the televised White House Correspondent's Dinner?
And they have the stones to sue about the Government's invasion of privacy!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
The gall of these two people reminds me of the story of a boy throwing himself at the mercy of the court during sentencing after he was convicted of murdering his parents and reminding the judge that he was an orphan.
For a complete run down of the fact, see
NRO. They have the detail boiled down.
